When will I spar or have a boxing bout?

The simple answer to this is when the coaches believe you are ready and you have completed the medical and insurance requirements to do so.

3

What training kit do I need to bring?

To begin, all you need is yourself in comfortable clothing suitable for sports.  Gloves are provided, we would recommend purchasing your own along with a gum shield once you are confident you are staying.

Boxers who compete will also require boxing boots, a groin guard (for males) and their own head guard for training is also recommended.  Chest and pelvic protection is optional for females.

4

How do I join the boxing team?

Once the coaches think you are ready - you will be invited for a trial period with the competitive boxing team.  We are looking for good fitness levels, consistent attendance, a positive attitude, and for members who have embraced the boxing fundamentals.

5

What qualifications do your coaches have?

All our coaches are qualified in accordance with England Boxing guidelines. Our team benefits from an England Boxing international Coach,  Level 3 Senior Coach, and British Board of Boxing Control Trainers leading the boxing coaching.

All coaches will have an up-to-date DBS clearance, first aid, and safeguarding qualifications, these are available to view at any time.

I'm interested in 1-1 sessions or group bookings for my organisation

Please contact us with your enquiry, we are happy to advise coaches availability and costs.

7

Are there any additional costs I should be aware of?

Once you are a member of the boxing team, you will require an annual medical, this typically costs around £15-£20.  You are also required to register with England Boxing as an athlete for insurance and competition purposes, this costs around £12 per year.

Typically, there are no additional costs for competitive opportunities such as club bouts, however we may ask for a contribution towards costs of larger competitions such as box cups which incur entry, accommodation, and travel costs.
